Being A Responsible Pet Owner

February is Responsible Pet Owners Month, which means it is a great time to check in on your pet’s overall wellbeing and make sure that you are doing the best by them. There are a few different ways to be a great per owner.

Check out these tips to be the best pet parent possible:

Schedule a Checkup with the Vet– Your dog or cat should see a vet at least once a year for a physical exam. This is important to know the condition of their health.

Update Microchip/ ID tags– It is important to update your pet’s microchip and ID tags in case they become lost, you can find them as quickly as possible.

Make Sure They Get Exercise– Pets, especially young puppies need to get adequate exercise. Be sure to take them out for daily walks and runs. This is also great way to help you stay in shape while also bonding with your furry pal.

Pick Up Their Waste– It is estimated that around 40% of dog owners do not pick up their dog’s poop. That is a signifigant amount of waste that is being left on the ground. Dog waste is harmful to the environment and do not make a good fertilizer, so it is important to do the responsible thing and pick up your pup’s poop.

Maintain their Diet– As your pet grows and develops, they will need to change their diet to adjust to their growing body. You may want to discuss their diet with your vet to ensure they are getting the proper nutrients.
